A History of Training Dogs
Pets Stop Inn is locally owned by the Freeman family and is operated by Founder/Operations Manager, Randy Freeman. The Freeman family has owned many different breeds of dogs from lap dogs to top of the line hunting dogs. They have also owned a few cats along the way.
Randy was born in Washington State, and was raised in West Monroe, Louisiana where he grew up hunting and fishing with his parents. At 20 years old Randy was given the opportunity to go duck hunting for the first time, and he was hooked after that first morning hunt. Randy was given his first duck call by none other than Phil Robertson, founder of Duck Commander Duck Calls and a star on the hit A&E original television series “Duck Dynasty.”
By 22, Randy was training dogs for basic obedience and hunting, a passion that eventually turned into an obsession. Randy moved to Oregon in February of 1999 and was told there were competitions for duck hunting dogs. Although Randy trained dogs and competed in AKC Hunt Test, his true passion has always been seeing the dogs working in the field.
Randy is passing on his love of animals to his kids Lane and Brittney. From time to time you will find them at the facility playing with pets, answering phones and booking appointments – learning the family business.
