Welcome to Gundog Training! As you can see we are sportsmen, we love our
dogs and hunting birds. The training that I use is a proven program, that is used
by most of the top trainers in the U.S. I have been hunting over dogs most of my
life, but my true passion started 15 years ago on my first duck hunt. This is
another reason we have started Pets Stop Inn Boarding & Freeman Retrievers.
To the Basics!!!
Exposure:
Obedience, Deliver to hand, Single marks.
Intermediate:
Double Retrieves, Blind Retrieves.
Advanced:
Triple Marks, and long Blind Retrieves.
We also Train dogs for AKC Hunt Test Competitions, for those that want to show
that your dog is up to AKC standards. This is also beneficial for the hunters to
allow your dog to retrieve live birds all year long.
In Competitions your dog can earn titles such as:
Junior Hunter (JH)
Senior Hunter (SH)
Master Hunter (MH)
These are all recognized by the AKC and are placed behind your dogs name.

Imagine this, you and your
buddy are sitting in a duck blind,
and 10 mallards come in. You
both shoot, 1,2,3,4,5 birds
down, your dog saw 3 fall out in
front. You tell your buddy watch
this 3 retrieves and 2 blind
retrieves later there are 5 ducks
in the bag, and your buddy says
"what a great dog" You tell your
buddy thanks, then casually say
he's my Gundog!

Miss Roxi Freeman Retrievers! Finishing her
retrieve. Roxi is now dual trained for
Waterfowl and Upland Birds.
Miss Roxi Freeman Retrievers was owned
and trained by Randy Freeman of Freeman
Retrievers! Roxi was started as a Gundog for
duck hunting. Roxi was sold to a client out of
Athena, Oregon and returned to Freeman
Retrievers for upland training. These photos
were taken by Randy's wife Kim. This was
the last day Roxi was in the field finishing her
training with Freeman Retrievers.
Upland training is very important in my
opinion, because it teaches the dog to use
their nose, therefore it is good when you are
hunting ducks, or upland. The dog will learn
to hunt for the bird, because face it not all
birds land in the open so you can see them!
